How to read the comparisons

Each comparison shows the largest amount a program page states for that upgrade. A flat rebate is shown as written; a per-ton heat pump rebate is drawn for a 3-ton system; a per-zone insulation rebate for 2 zones; a percentage offer for a $5,000 insulation project. Amounts labelled "max" are the most a program pays, not what every project gets. Income-qualified tiers are listed with the program, because each program defines income its own way: Efficiency Maine uses enrollment in HEAP, SNAP, TANF or MaineCare, Green Mountain Power uses 80% of area median income, Energize CT uses state and area median income bands.

The federal energy credits that paired with these rebates ended under Public Law 119-21: the home improvement credit and the clean energy credit for property placed in service after December 31, 2025, and the refueling property credit for chargers placed in service after June 30, 2026. The federal status page quotes the IRS. Inflation Reduction Act rebate programs are open in only a few of the covered states; the federal page lists each state's status. Start with your state instead: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, Wisconsin.

Guides that explain the mechanics: how rebates stack, per-ton heat pump rebates and contractor requirements.

Rebates are set by each program and can change or close without notice; the program's own page and application decide what is paid. This page is information, not tax, legal or financial advice. Amounts last checked October 21, 2026.
